Relationship Status:

About Me:
42 y.o. pentecostal church raised christian with charismatic worship/reformist theology leanings (aka Charismatic Calvinist). Assiting with a youth oriented start-up church (Youth group evolving into a church). I go to a very large church that emphasizes God doing continous spiritual recovery in our lives and it totally rocks. I like the worship rocking and shackle free. (Why not play Jesus Freak during worship???) Getting back into being a workout gymaniac. On the boring side, I'm starting to read the works of Josephus. Finished Martin Luther and will die for more John Calvin.

Married, 2 kids (not including the pets), air force vet living near sin city.

Lance Baker

Hi, welcome to my Faith page. I'm originally from Jacksonville, FL but I live out on the edge of Sin City, Nevada. I was originally stationed out here against my will while serving in the air force. I'm not excited about it now either. My wife and her folks live out here and (well, you get the picture).
I miss the barbecue, christian concerts, ocean, green vegetation, etc...

I grew up in the pentecostal/charismatic environment. When I was stationed out in England, I gravitated theology wise torward many reformist viewpoints. Simply put, I found my self becoming more of a "calvinist" leaning
guy and less of a dispensationalist. For many people, It means nothing unless you are a theology fanatic BUT I'm trying to describe myself here.

I'm a father, husband, christian rocker, air force veteran, nurse, Dallas Cowboys Diehard, pro wrestling fan, and a returning gym freak. I'm a little bit mental at 42...hey, thats not a bad thing.

Hope to meet many of you soon.!!!!

Lance

He is 2 months here already. I guess it's been that long since I was on here. He has a bad habit of sucking on his tail. I don't know why he does it. I'm gonna my vet about it when I get the chance.

Hey, My hubby is Charles and he is also a member of this place, you can go send him a request to be a friend please. He needs prayer because tomorrow he goes to the VA for testing. He suffers from chronic back pain from various issues; a back surgery gone bad, degenerative disc disease, hypertension and joint pain. He is on massive medications...he is suffering from pain in the upper right thigh that runs through the cheeks of his behind. Tomorrow they will run a DTV test looking for blood clots. He already had xrays and they did not show any fractures or broken bones...Pray for him if you will anyone else out there that reads this post.....Thanks and Amen!

Thank you very much Lance for your answer to my question. I have forwarded it to my friend. I agree with you that sin is sin no matter wehat it may be. They are all equal in Gods eyes, yet we place a different emphasis on certain sins. I appreciate your knowledge and candidness.
Oh by the way, your kitty is awesome! What is its name and is it male or female?

Hi guys,

I know I have been off for awhile. Nothing personal, mostly neglect. My daughter had surgery last week and I got mmy new kitten (turned out it was a boy and not the girl I expected).
I finnishhed reading "Bondage of the Will" Somethings happens in translation or his prose because it seems very boring and the book had it divided into hundreds of subsections. I would get lost on who was talking to who.
Did anyone else find this problem with Martin Luther's writings.
Now John Calvin, I could't put it down. He made it come alive that I would forget it was a commentary. Hopefully, Josephus will be more like Calvin. Does anyone know where I can find his commentary on Isiah.

Good to meet ya,' Brother. You truly are not alone! Also, make sure to check out the "Five Solas and a Tulip" Group. It's a group for Calvinists.

God bless.

Lance... the practice of self-mutilation goes way back to the worship of Baal... it is a spirit, that drives it's victims into a sense of a lack of self worth... almost an attempt to kill themselves, but more a cry of help... My wife, Lisa Marsee, has some info on this subject...I will send it to you if you like. This seems to be predominate among the youth of today... almost like a badge of courage... but definetly a cry for caring attention.
